Supporting Shelter: Dubuque Regional Humane Society
Pros: cared and made sure they were up to date on vet and had a vet that the dog was going to...caring
Cons: Sad to see that there was such a need that wasn't known for pet addoption
I totally thougt when picking up my sisters dog with her that had been lost and turned into the Dubuque Humane Society that it would be just a quick errand and never dreamed I would be effected by it. Well my eyes were wide open to the need for more people to be involved even though there was a great deal of volunteers there that day. I saw a man walking and as we were leaving playing with a dog in a grass area. I saw some girls cleaning out the cat area. I enjoyed the friendly knowlegable advice given to my sister about importance of a name tag and leashing her dog even though the dog is usually trustworthy. The staff gave her a background on beaglels and why the dog could have strayed so easily. It just opened my eyes to the fact that it was more than a "doggy jail" for runaways and strays. THe people really care there. They really want to volunteer their time.
