Pros: great staff, clean facility, excellent director
Cons: need more space/cages for incoming animals
The staff at the Dubuque Regional Humane Society works very hard to care for the large number of pets that seem to be constantly coming in. They do an excellent job of keeping the facility clean and making sure the pets are kept as comforable as possible. They evaluate the pets and try to match the particular pet's behavior with the potential owner's desires. I have adopted several animals from there and have always been impressed with the whole adoption process. They do a thorough job evaluating the potential homes these animals are going to, which I realize can be difficult with so many animals that need homes. They want to make sure each animal is the right fit for the adoptive family, and prevent animals from ending up back in the shelter. The Dubuque Humane Society is very active in the community with many programs that educate both children and adults on pet care and the overpopulation problem.
