Supporting Shelter: Dubuque Regional Humane Society
Supporting Rescue: Northeast Iowa Pet Rescue
Pros: Wonderful care and love for the animals
Cons: Location
I volunteer for the Dubuque Regional Humane Society, so I see first hand how the animals are treated by staff. Every staff members treats them as if the animals are their own pets. The cats and dogs get lots of hugs, love and kind treatment. The shelter is kept very clean for the animals. The staff is friendly and helpful to any community member who wants to see pets for possible adoption. The shelter also takes all animals brought to them for many different reasons, and the person is never questioned. I am hoping all who care about DRHS are doing all they can on ZooToo, so they stay in the top 20. The DRHS has grown out of its current structure. In 2008 alone they cared for over 5,000 lost, abandoned, abuse, and surrendered animals.
