Supporting Shelter: Calhoun County Animal Shelter

Pros: Very knowledgeable staff, lots of years of background on animals

Cons: building is only half done, needs to finish construction

The Calhoun County Animal Shelter strives on keeping strays off the streets and trying to get them back to their homes. The shelter has employees that love the animals rather than loving their jobs if you know what I mean. This is not just a job that just anyone can handle.

The shelter is also trying to build a surgery suit so we can offer low cost spaying/neutering to the public. Because we have a animal population problem in calhoun county area that alot of the public doesn't even know about.

You are right Craig there is a over population in Battle Creek it would be nice if people could and would see this.

I just wish we could get people to see that all it would take would be spaying/neutering of their pets and in a generation, perhaps shelters would not be needed for strays, only reuniting, etc. I don't understand why people won't stop their pets from reproducing - financial help is available most places, all it takes is a trip to a local vet and it would stop so much suffering! Please please spread the word, as we do. Thank you.

Praying in Indiana that you all get the funds to keep the shelter doing the awesome work you do.... This coumtry is in great need of more help for our four legged friends & people like you & the people at Calhoun Shelter who are not only hard wrokers but really " Love" your jobs as well the animals too..... ,Hugs & prayers from Indiana , Lana

This shelter's #1 priority is the care that animals receive while there and that they are matched with a good home. Cleanliness is also important and they work very hard to ensure that both the facility and the animals are clean and well cared for.
