Supporting Shelter: Indiana Horse Rescue

Pros: Dedication and Love for Horses

Cons: Not enough volunteers or funding

This place is huge, with over 70 horses on site, many who have on-going medical issues and most of whom have be neglected and abused. One horse is a lot of work for any one person, but imagine 70 plus! And they do it with basically 3 full time people and a very small handful of part-time volunteers. All the while they are searching 24/7 for funding and donations. Everyone should visit here if they can because even with all this going on, they will give you a warm greeting and answer any questions that you might have. I believe you will see clearly what their goal is and that is simply to find loving and caring homes for these beautiful, wonderful, and most of all deserving horses. I have adopted two horses and a donkey from here and the only thing that could make me happier is if I had the means to take a couple more! The background on most of these horses is not a good one, but the fact that they still come up and nuzzle you and love any attention paid to them is a testament of why these people do what they do, unconditional love and that is truly priceless.

Not only do they 'care' for the horses, they care so much 'about' them! Hopefully this year I can adopt at least one - Stormy's at the top of that list. If only I could get them everything they need now, so they could do what they need to without worrying over funding.

If you do get Stormy, please let me know from time to time how he is doing, he has a special place in my heart, and although I would love nothing more than for him to have a home where he is loved, because that is what he deserves, I think my heart would break if I couldn't know how he is doing every once in a while.
