Supporting Shelter: City of Bloomington Animal Shelter/Monroe County Humane Association
Pros: Caring staff, beautiful facility, great volunteers
Cons: Because of realities of south central Indiana, they get more animals than they can ever hope to find homes for; we need more spay/neuter awareness among the general public.
I love the Bloomington Animal Shelter. I've adopted two of my dog companions from the shelter, and am a volunteer adoption counselor there. The staff is dedicated and knowledgable, and they have a beautiful facility and high standards for humane care of the animals. As an advocate of pit bulls, I also appreciate the fact that they give this breed a chance and don't reject or euthanize them out of hand like so many shelters do.
