I have a very hard time visiting this shelter. This is a kill shelter, and according to the lady, 90% of the animals who go in here never come out. While I do know that shelters like this are necessary, they have refused to give dogs to the no-kill shelter, preferring to euthanize them instead. Very sad.

I don't think it's true that kill shelters are necessary. Trap-Neuter-Release programs are much more humane, and work better at cat control (I don't know about dogs, but I still don't think it's necessary to kill them). It's never humane or necessary to kill a healthy animal. From what I've heard around town, it sounds like Richmond needs to rethink its animal care practices.
