Review Details
The Humane Society Calumet Area, working within a no-kill philosophy provides shelter and medical treatment for unwanted and abandoned animals while finding loving, adopting homes. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal organization, we promote population control along with kindness and ethical treatment through education and example.
The HSCA has been providing vital services to the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana community for over 65 years. In 2006, over 2,000 orphaned animals were adopted into loving homes. We provide humane education to over 4,000 children a year and pet therapy to multiple local area nursing homes. Our dedicated staff of 30 employees and 300+ active volunteers work around the clock to support our organization. Six years ago, we moved to a new facility in Munster, Indiana and are now able to shelter and care for over 300 animals on a daily basis.
We are not funded through any government agency and rely solely on donations and grants from individuals and foundations. Our programs are vital to the people and animals that reside in our surrounding communities. In order to continue growing and expanding upon our current endeavors we must depend on the kindness of others.
