Pros: My hats off to our shelter

Cons: understaffed and underpaid and unappreciated

I would like to thank the workers at our shelter for having the love to take care of these animals each and every day. I just wish the people in our area would come out and support our shelter more. I think there should be more fundraisers for the shelter and people with the incentives to come up with more ways to help our shelter. We all have extra newspapers, blankets, etc. that could help the shelter and also keep a pet warm on a cold winter night. A bottle of bleach does not cost that much and I am sure we all have extra dog toys laying around that our pet does not like or use. Just think of the happiness that could bring an animal that is in a pen all day with nothing to do. I wish there was more media coverage in our area for the shelter. There are many people in the area with extra time on their hands to go lend a helping hand and I am sure that our shelter could really use the help and an extra hand.

I think we should be VERY grateful that we have Cheryl at our shelter-she is one caring, compassionate woman trying to do her very best at a very hard job. Come on Washington County residents-lets step up to the plate and try to do more to help these people that devote their lives to animals that have found themselves in a VERY unfortunate situation. Our shelter can only be as good as the people behind it. I have lived here my entire life and know that we have good people living here so lets all jump in a offer some support and whatever donations we can afford. Thank you Cheryl and staff.

Since I have become more involved in our local Humane Society I see so much more that needs to be done. Our staff is so overworked that I do not know how they get everything done in one day. I would like to applaud Angie & Levi as two of the most hard working employees at our shelter. They are compassionate and caring individuals with a desire to please. Our shelter manager Cheryl Byers, has so many things to take care of in one day that it is impossible to attend to everything that needs taken care of. Sharon & Butch Morris are another two individuals that work extremely hard at their jobs. They are compassionate and the animals take to them. I am hoping that as the new Volunteer Co-ordinator that I can get volunteers inspired to get to work to lessen the load on these people at our shleter and therefore making the days brighter for the animals that call our shelter home at some time in their lives. I just want all of you to know that you are appreciated more than you can ever know.
