Cat Welfare Association is dedicated to the care of and education about cats and kittens. Our pledge is to cherish, nurture and provide veterinary care for homeless, abused, injured and abandoned felines. We strive to find each cat an appropriate and loving home, allowing those not placed to live out their lives in the care and comfort of our shelter.
We have been helping the homeless cats in the central Ohio community since 1945. In the last 18 years we have adopted out over 17,600 cats into loving homes. We are very dedicated to spay and neuter programs that will help reduce the number of homeless cats and our various altering funds and free clinics have allowed us to help over 19,380 cats receive this important surgery in the last 18 years.
As a limited intake facility, we are reliant on adoptions to enable us to take in more homeless cats and give them a second chance at life. We receive no government funding or assistance and rely on fundraising, membership, donations and bequests in order to continue our good work.
We entered this zootoo contest with the hopes of being able to better the lives of the cats in our care through shelter improvements. We would love to be able to expand our shelter in order to have the ability to help more homeless cats in our community. We do not have a separate room for kittens and would like to in order to protect their fragile immune systems while they are in our care. Kitten season is rapidly approaching and Cat Welfare is estimating that we will take in approximately 400 kittens in the upcoming months. We also do not have a "meet and get to know" area for potential adopters to spend some time with a cat that has caught their eye. We would love to be able to offer this special room where friendships for life will be formed. We would also like to improve our spay and neuter facilities so that we can help even more cats receive this important surgery and help reduce the numbers of homeless cats in our communities. Our county estimates that there are over 1 million homeless and feral cats at the moment and without spay and neuter these numbers will quickly double and triple.
For 63 years Cat Welfare Association has been helping the homeless cats. We are passionate about our mission and completely committed to the cats in our care. Please help us win a shelter makeover so that we can continue making a difference for another 63 years!
