The Little Shelter that Could

This is an amazing little shelter. They get by on such limited resources. I really don't know how they do what they do, with so little; but they do it. The staff and volunteers are so caring and dedicated to the animals. They work so hard at giving homeless pets that have been abandoned, abused and neglected a second chance at life.

They also have an wonderful partnership with the local prison where inmates of Madison County help to foster and train some of the HSMC dogs. It is a great program that helps make the dogs even more adoptable with their new training and skills. There's also something to be said for the impact it has on the inmate's lives as well.

A new building is so desperately needed. I can't think of any shelter more deserving. They have tried to raise funds for a new building for as long as I can remember. We can only hope for the day when they will have a better shelter for our faithful, furry friends. Both my dog, Bailey and my Bea Kitty came from HSMC. They are the best! I will be forever grateful for the care they were given there before I took them home. Thank you HSMC for all you do.
