Review Details
The staff at the Henderson Humane Society is concerned with the welfare of every animal that it shelters. Operating on donations alone, the shelter staff and its volunteers work hard to find homes for each animal as quickly as possible. Using Internet web sites, email, local media and word-of-mouth, the HHS staff and volunteers do everything possible to see that sheltered animals find good and loving homes.
Throughout the week, the HHS staff and volunteers provide love and attention to the animals that they shelter. All work to provide clean, dry bedding each day. A Vet is on staff to insure that all animals in the shelter remain healthy. Everyone pitches-in to insure the animals are fed and have good, clean water. While the animals see some exercise during the week, Tuesday evenings are special because many of the volunteers provide exercise and interaction for the dogs in the shelter from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. At the end of the evening, the dogs are provided treats and warm blankets to sleep on!
The Henderson Kentucky Humane Society has the best staff and volunteers! Every animal sheltered there knows they are loved!
The Henderson Humane Society operates on donations alone. Please help if you can. Help us save these wonderful animals!

The Henderson Animal Shelter currently has no official director. A member of the staff is functioning as interim-director. That has been the case for much of the three months that I have been volunteering at the shelter.
I think it should be noted that the person who is the acting director (I won't use her name in an unsecured Internet forum) has been doing an excellent job. This position is demanding. The role she fills each day - and many nights and weekends - is no different of that filled by a corporate CEO or any other organizational leader. The overall management of the shelter - and its employees - falls on her shoulders. She has to work with a VERY limited budget while maintaining the integrity of the shelter, the care of the animals and the needs of the shelter employees. The acting director is fulfilling that mission well. There is nothing easy about this job and every new day presents many new challenges and difficult decisions. This is a tough job and I am impressed with the job the acting director is doing.
I encourage everyone to relay a message of thanks to her for her hard work and dedication to the welfare of the animals of Henderson County, KY
