Our animal shelter really needs updating, improvement, and additional space!! Our rural county is in desparate need of pet overpopulation education and assistance for low-income patrons to assist in spaying/neutering their pets. The key is education/marketing especially in schools, I believe. If our children learn young that spaying/neutering your pet is best, then maybe as adults they will become more responsible pet owners. They could also influence their parents to spay/neuter their animals. It's healthier for their pets and our community! But until then, our shelter needs a makeover desperately, to house the number of stray/unwanted pets in our community.

Lorie is right, this county is in desperate need for a low cost spay and neuter program. So many animals are being dumped off because of overpopulation and no funds to assist this. To spay a kitten is over $100 at the vets office.
