The Butler Area Humane Society.

Pros: I'd rather explain it in my review.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Review Details

For my Christmas present my wish was to get a dog. My boyfriend granted this wish with a trip to our local humane society. Now, I have been to "pounds" before that didn't impress me. That was because they had a bad odor. Now I'm not saying it smelled like flowers. lol. I mean with a lot of animals, c'mon. But it was very clean in there and the animals looked well taken care of. That's because they have volunteers come in who take care of the animals. If they get too many animals for the shelter, there are people who volunteer to take them home. In other words, foster parents for pets. (Personally, I couldn't do this. I'd fall in love with them all and want to keep them!)
Once Ruby and I made a connection, we got to "meet" each other in a special room to see if we were compatible. As you can see by the pic, we were!
BUT, the Humane Societies duties weren't done once the adoption was complete. I got a follow up call asking how Ruby was doing and if she'd been to the vet yet for her wellness check up. This humane society keeps track of its adoptions for six months after they are adopted to make sure the animals are being well taken care of. I think that's a great idea. That way if someone is abusing an animal, the humane society can step in and take it away. You even sign a contract agreeing to that. Ruby had all of her shots, and before we left to start our new life together, she also had her license. I'm thinking of volunteering down there once the weather clears up.
I definitely recommend that anyone living in Butler, Pennsylvania check this place out if they are looking to adopt.
