This is an open-door shelter, who turns no one away. The staff is knowledgeable and loving, and a good team of volunteers gives the animals attention, walks, treats, foster homes and many hot leads to adoptive parents.
They only euthanize if an animal is unadoptable due to aggression or illness. This shelter is so successful at being an open door facility because of the great lengths it goes to to get its animals adopted, thus making room for new ones. There is always an off-site adoption event or high-exposure fundraiser going on somewhere, getting the animals out of the shelter abd giving them the wide public exposure required to increase their chances at adoption. It is a lot of work, to be sure, but it works! There's a dog in foster care right now that has been at the shelter since April, and a couple of 10 year-olds who have not only been at the shelter for 2 months or more, but treated for various health issues in order to make them adoptable. This shelter is not quick to euthanize and that is such a wonderful rarity that saves countless lives. Thanks for the cool question!
