Now, i have been on this site for a little bit of time & i have seen shelters say how much they need this makeover & i have visted many many shelters around the country just from curiosity... i have never ever met a shelter better then this one (not dissin on noones) these people are hardworking & dedicated... they stay long hours & get little pay.
This community is small and alot of time they are underappreciated for the late night calls and all the cruelty cases these people deal with.
When there is an animal near death & the vet recommends euthansia because the money will be crazy this shelter says if we can save this life if we can stop the suffering we will & they do. every day these people take animals that people almost kill & animals that people leave on the streets & this shelter gives them a loving home.
There are animals such as clifford. Clifford was laying in a ditch half dead from demidectic (srry for the misspellinz) mange... & staph infection. Every time you picked him up he would bleed you could feel his ribs.. it was awful. Kelly (the president of the spca)(who obviously has no time as is because she saves the world) & her daughter took that little puppy in & nursed him back to health... ebsin salts every hour ... baths every other day... sulfur baths every wednesday antibiotics every day ivermec every day... in 2 weeks that puppy went to a lifeless furless little ball of nothing to a running, jumpin, full of fur annoyance (hah just playin).. then they put him in an amazing foster home where he is happy & although he might get flare ups.. he is a live & well... living a wonderful life.
Then there is toby. toby is a very sweet pitbull with an irresponsible owner. anyways the owner was getting arrested and kept telling toby to get him get him..toby would not but just barked.. letting them know he was scared and to back of f the owner.. the owner was making a scene & kept telling toby to get him... toby barked & the police woman pepper sprayed him ... the owner said get him - & finally toby bit.. a small bite - not blood just a warning.. i mean this lady peppersprayed his eyes. everyone wanted to put toby down but the spca did petitions... had people make a video (little kids would hug and kiss on toby & eta out of his bowl - although they didnt want the kids to do that so they didnt ask to show that on the vid) they udid everything & now instead of death toby found life although it will always have to be at our shelter ... they take very good care of him & love him and one o fhte investigators takes him out for ice creams and to his house to sleep on the bed.
then there is bert. bert was a puppy when he got to the shelter... he was a beagle mix ... an absolute doll of a dog.... unfourtantley no one wanted to take him home... as bert got older something happened (not sure what but some illness) where bert became paralyzed from waste down... he would pee where ever he was uncontrollably & he couldnt walk... the shelter found funds to get him a walker so that he could go for walks which he loved... and bert stayed at that shelter getting his awesome walks until the day he died of old age.
these are just a few stories i can offer you from the shelter - are there more? millions more... millions of lives saved... millions of happy dogs living because of this NO KILL shelter...
do they have the money? NO... we come from a very low population & economically depressed area.. they figure it out - they get it done... no matter what needs to be done.. they figure out how to get that money...
do they need this makeover? more then ever. the building is old & was wired wrong... its hard to heat.. & its obviously very old.. the shelter has ways of making their shelter better if they could get this amazing chance.... i know they deserve it. They are such an amazing place who have done everything they possibly could to save animals - this is the best shelter - please give this this shelter a makeover because they deserve it..

People trying to make a difference are true heroes in my book. Any life is worth saving. I hope this shelter gets what they need. I wish i could help all the NO KILL shelters because they are the ones that truly care. If every person in this country, could give just a $1, we could do a whole lot of good out there. Come on people! Chip in and help out!
