Doing so much for so many!

They are so caring and dedicated here, and have done amazing things with so little. Even with an outdated shelter, they have made great strides towards establishing "cageless cat shelter" rooms, and their volunteers and staff work hard to provide socialization and play time to all of the dogs and cats. And they have been selfless about taking in the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina, when they easily could have said we have enough to deal with already. And, they give a second chance to dogs and cats that might immediately have been classified as unadoptable and euthanized had they had the misfortune of landing in any other shelter. And, even with a less then inviting shelter, they still manage to find good homes for so many animals. If they win the shelter makeover, they would be able to do so much more towards creating a pleasant, more homelike environment for the animals, and even more importantly, a more welcoming environment for potential adopters to interact with the animals.
