Review Details

Since I was 6 I've wanted to work at the Erie County SPCA. 5 years ago I got my oppotunity and I cried for 2 weeks. I know that on any given day you can come to the shelter and see how much the staff cares for the animals in their charge. The staff has anguished over the ones that couldn't be saved and rejoyced for the ones that could be saved. Doing a job like this is not always easy but knowing that without this facility and the people who run it, life for the animals in Western New York would not be the same.It would be very hard to work here if we didn't see the good, great and wonderful animal outcomes each and every day. Shelters are not always the most pleasant places but with a staff that cares as much as this one does the good always outways everything else. Nothing is as fullfilling as watching an animal that you have bonded with walk out the door with his new forever home and seeing the smiles on the faces of the families as they leave to start their new lives with their new family member.

I agree. There is a lot of false rumors about the SPCA. If people would come, volunteer or adopt (or even work there) they will see that some negative things people say are not true.
Krissy why didn't the people from the SPCA call and tell it's fosters about the program I had to find out from another shelter Gorges
Krissi,
It is also my dream job to work at the ECSPCA. I visit as often as I can to just be with all of the animals, focusing a little more on the dogs. That's just where I end up. I will always visit the Pet Shop to buy something for my pets. I envy you but know that the job is not always easy, but necessary. Keep up the good work! =)
