Review Details

The Ten Lives Club has come to my aid several times. Without doubt, or hesitation they helped me with cats I found that needed my help. They in no way ever made me feel that the cats had only a chance, that a 50/50 chance of being put down, depending on how busy they were that week. No, the Ten Lives Club provided for the cats I brought in a 100 % chance. I left those cats their knowing no one would hurt them. I do not know if any of you have taken a cat to a shelter, and been told the cat would be put down, I hope not, it’s a panic feeling. You cannot leave the cat there, but what to do if that’s your only option, you feel sick.

Supporting the Ten Lives Club opens a better option to me. A place where cats can go when there is no other place, a place where people can go to help, and come home with a new, special family member. A place that makes me know that good exists in people, and in our animal friends. So here I wish to say to all at the Ten Lives Club, Thank You, Thank You very much.

B Marshall

I have been a volunteer with Ten Lives Club since December 2002 and have seen the miracleous things they have done for cats. They are definitely a Godsend. Over the years I have been helped by Ten Lives Club and helped Ten Lives Club. Ten Lives Club is an integral part of my life and heart. They have given vaccinations, spay/neuter to Kismet, a cat that my husband and I fortunately stumbled across when searching for our first house, Kismet was found in a foreclosed home with no food, water, or littter box. We had to convince a real estate agent for her gallant efforts to convince the foreclosure company to let us bring Kismet to Ten Lives Club. We gave Kismet her name because it means fate or fortune, which is how we found her. Ten Lives Club helped her get medically checked out and find her forever home. (We would have adopted her if we hadn't still been in an apartment with a 3 cat limit even though we had 5 - 4 were very similiar in color). Ten Lives Club has also helped us with a grey and white 14 lb. kitty whom my next door neighbor called me numerous times about. She told me that a patron/co-worker at the restaurant that she worked at had a "stray" cat that she (the patron/co-worker) had been feeding, and that the apartment that she was living at didn't allow pets. Her husband, though an "animal lover" according to his wife, was threatening to dump the kitty (Mr. Biggins) off at a place where he would have ended up dead, hurt, starving, freezing, neglected, or perishing unless she could find somone to take him. He is an adorable and loveable boy, who if not for Ten Lives Club, would have faced a very uncertain if not deadly future. Rowan, a semi-feral kitty who was reported to be pregnant by a neighbor of ours, came into Ten Lives Club care. If she is pregnant (which i haven't had a chance to ask about yet as this was a very recent rescue case) her kittens will be born into a situation where they can be socialized and adopted out. If not pregnant, she will still be spayed (after pregnancy if pregnant) and T.N.V.R. if she's not pregnant (her kittens will be socialized and adopted out of she is pregnant, and herself TNVR). Of my 11 kitties, 6 care from Ten Lives Club. All of my furry babies are rescues, but the majority are through Ten Lives Club or with relations to Ten Lives Club, Our dog even came from a high-kill shelter out-of-state that Ten Lives Club rescued cats from. Our dog, Emery, came up with 6 TLC cats rescued from teh high-kill shelter (the sending shelter was a high-kill-shelter and TLC is a NO-KILL shelter. ) Belle came up from Illinois with Emery and both are happy furry kids in our home. In a home of 12 furry-kids (total: 11 cats, 1 dog, all rescues) we have the patience, love, time, understanding, care, dedication, and desire to help everyone acclimate and adjust, as well as to enjoy, grow, acclimate, and adjust to our household. PATIENCE and DEDICATION combined with UNCONDITIONAL UNDERSTANDING & LOVE are the key elements to running a happy household like ours. A number of people have dumped off cats that they have been irrosponsible aboubt and unwilling to face up to the fate/care of, and Ten Lives Club has absorbed the bills of the veternary care for, though Ten Lives Club is greatly in need of funds for such resources as veterinary care, food, litter, etc. Ten Lives Club has a VERY BIG heart but limited resources. We try to do everything we can, even exhausting what resources we have to save these kitties, We even have a responsible program where people who wish to surrender a cat can volunteer a ceratin number of manpower hours in place of volunteering, so tha hey can cover the cost of surrendering a cat. While volunteering they learn all about the everydays costs, struggles, and work involved in runnning a no-kill, non-profit cat shelter so that hey learn something from the experience. This hands-on knowledge is some thing that will hopefully educate them and stay with them, as well as educate them about responsible pet ownership. As a real-life example, of choices and the importance of our furry kids, my husband and I moved int a area that we would NEVER have otherwise EVER considered moving into just so that we could keep and help adopt additional furry kids (mainly cats plus 1 dog). In return, I learned that living in a city as opposed to the upper-middle- class suburbs that I grew up in, my neighbors are TRUE & OPEN HEARTED, TRUE, HONEST, ANIMAL LOVERS, RESPECTABLE, LOVEAVBLE. HONEST, CLOSE-KNIT, and DEDICATED. Despite my initial reservations about living in the "City of Lackawanna" I TREASURE my animal lover neighbors and and am thankful for them. Two years since now, my husnband and I now have 11 cats and 1 dog - 6 kitties through Ten LIves Ckub and 1 dog through of a leg of a run from Vincennes, Indiana ( a high-kill shelter). T.L. C. is fully relient on volunteer manpower, donations, and empathy/ sympathy of those desiring to help cats/pets.
