Supporting Shelter: Wyoming County SPCA
Pros: Staff, cleanliness, animals,
Cons: the amount of space the shelter has
This shelter is amazing. They take all animals and do not kill anyone. They have some animals that are very difficult to work with, however the staff is patient, kind and caring and never do they turn any animal in need away. If they are not adopted, they are loved and cared for, they are given medication if needed, they are in a clean and loving environment for the rest of their lives. Each animal has a name and the staff know all of their names, which is amazing as they have over 300 cats and 10 dogs right now!
If you are coming to adopt, be prepared to answer lots of questions and be observed as you interact with the animals. The staff at the shelter love all of their animals very much and want to be certain to get the animals in to loving and caring homes.
The only difficulty I see with the shelter is that they are running out of room! They are on call 24 hours a day with the wyoming county sheriffs dept for endangered animals or animals that have been caught as strays. There are so many animals in need of help that they are busting at the seams!
THEY NEED YOU TO VOTE FOR THEIR SHELTER! PLEASE HELP THE WYOMING COUNTY SPCA GET THE SPACE AND FACILITIES THEY NEED TO CONTINUE TO SUPPOPT THE COMMUNITY AND THE ANIMALS, IN THE EXCELLENT MANNER THEY HAVE IN THE PAST!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

The Wyoming County SPCA Is one of the most caring and loving facilities for homeless pets. With over 270 Cats and many dogs, each animal has a name and most of the staff know every animal. It is a no kill shelter, which, with the amount of animals that come through the doors, is an amazing feat. Each animal that is admitted to the facility is treated with respect and dignity. All animals are given needed medication, food, and shelter, but in addition to that, they get love. All the cages get cleaned every morning, by staff and volunteers. During this time, each animal is given attention, and much needed people interaction. Even the cats that are untouchable, are worked with. The unfortunate part of this amazing service is that it is running out of room. Because no animal is ever turned away, this amazing facility is becoming too crowded. This facility recieves no state funds and is in desperate need of additional room, cages and resources. I see amazing people stopping in every day to leave donations, which is part of the reason this shelter continues to run. It has a great deal of public support, but it needs more. The Wyoming County SPCA would be the best candidate for a million dollar makeover! This facility, that turns no animal away deserves the best that it can get, and I cannot think of anyplace more deserving of the million dollar makeover, than this loving, caring facility.
