My daughter was driving one day to her grandmother's, and the road was that dirty snow all over, and as my daughter was driving by she saw a movement out of the corner of her eye. She saw a small white dog laying helpless in the what was left of the snow bank. She backed up and told the dog to get up baby you are going to get hurt! She decided to watch where the dog went, to an old barn where there was no cattle or anything. She decided to look for the owner. She knocked on doors to no avail. Only one person answered the door and and they said the dog wasn't their's. So she decided to take the dog home. She put the heater on full blast to warm the dog on the way home. When she got the dog home she tried to give it water, she knew the dog was hungry and thirsty. But the dog wouldn't drink. She decided to look a little closer and found the dog had quills in its thoat. She tried to help the poor dog, but the dog needed medicial attention. She couldn't afford it, so the only thing she could do was take it to the dog warden, which in turn took the dog to the Potsdam Animal Shelter. They immediately took care of Honey. Which my daughter named her. My daughter was heart broken, she fell in love with the dog. She really wanted to take care of her. But of course there is a waiting period, to see if the owners show up to claim her. Of course not. So Honey was put up for adoption. She is a beautiful and loving dog and very smart. We thought the shelter had an owner lined up for her, but when they noticed a small lump on her back and i think there was one on her side to. The person who wanted to adopt her backed out. The medical bill would be too much. When I found this out, I went to the shelter and talked to them. I told them the story of another dog my daughter had. My daughter wanted Honey very badly. And the shelter knew this and the cost would be great and my daughter couldn't afford it. So they came up with a way that Honey and my daughter could be together. My daughter is a foster parent so to speak..lol. When the shelter called me to tell me that everything was all set, I was never so happy! They even told her they would help with the food and everything concerning Honey. Honey still needs a test to find out if she has cancer or not. And the shelter is raising the money to get this done. You can imagine the surprise on my daughter's face, when me and my boyfriend brung her the dog. I have never seen her so happy. Honey was happy to, she knew it was my daughter. They played in the snow for a while. It was a wonderful site to see. So I have everything great to say about this animal shelter. They are the far best in the North Country in my opinion.
