A Great Shelter with a Great Need for a Makeover
6 months ago -- Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Pros: Very Kind and helpful staff
Cons: Size...too small
The Jefferson County SPCA is a great shelter. The staff there are the kindest I've ever met at a shelter and you can tell that they really care about the pets there. Unfortunately they are a small shelter in need of a makeover.

If I ever have a need for a pet, or find myself able to support another pet, the Jefferson County SPCA is the first place I'll go to.

There is alot to be said about this WONDERFUL place; I'm not sure where to begin. First the staff is so kind and caring that when you do get an animal from them you know they have been loved. (Maybe not by the previous owners, but the staff) Linda Miles is one classy lady. I make a point to watch her on the news everytime she shows a new animal. This lady always keeps people informed on how they can help the shelter out. She never begs or pleads. Linda simply explains the different and fun fundraisers and accepts all donations very graciously.
I remember when the shelter was broken into and things were damaged; Linda or the staff didn't hang their heads, they all pulled together to make things work because of their love for the animals. This break-in had to have been a huge setback.
If there is a place that is deserving of a makeover it is the Jefferson County SPCA. Keep up the great work Linda, staff, and volunteers!!!!

My son, a boy scout, is looking to help out the SPCA. He would like to start a campaign with the other boy scouts to get the word out about www.zootoo.com to help the SPCA of Jefferson County earn a new facility/makeover...and hopefully get out the message of pet awareness at the same time. What do you think?

How terrible that someone should break into the shelter and vandalize it! I hope they caught the perpertrators.

I sure hope it wins some funds in this contest to get the makeover I'm sure it deserves.
