Pros: Animals come first, Rare collaborative shelter run by Animal Welfare advocates for Southold Town Municipal Corporation
Cons: Still in ancient inadequate quarters, but a new building is under construction!
Southold Town is lucky to have a nonprofit operate the government animal control shelter facility and also provide a community center for humane education. The town spends less than it would have to for a shelter to meet minimum legal requirements and benefits from a shelter where "not my job" is not not the point.
When a companion animal gets lost they will be well taken care of. If you are looking to adopt an animal they will be well socialized.
