Well on their way to being a great shelter

Pros: A no kill shelter that has come a long way

Review Details

Freeport Shelter has made leaps and bounds in the last year. The cats are living in enclosures rather than cages, the dogs have new runs and are getting daily exercise. But most of all...people are starting to consider the Freeport Shelter when they want to adopt a pet. Living on Long Island all my life...up until a year ago...I didnt even know there was a shelter in Freeport. As the facility improves, more and more people are taking notice. By this time next year...Freeport will be THE place to adopt a pet on the South Shore.

I am glad to hear that the shelter is improving. At this time I am a foster
mother for kittens from the shelter. Since I am elderly and don't drive, I am glad I can do something for the little animals. I would adopt some but I already have 4 cats that I took from my front porch when they were abandoned. Everyone that can should help the shelter by volunteering. I
call myself Mothercat because I have cared for and loved so many little ones.
This lady is a great find for the Freeport shelter. she not only fosters our kittens that are unweaned but she is constanly loving them and kissing them. SHe is truly the mother cat. SO far all her little babes have gone to wonderful homes.
It is so wonderful you found Mothercat! She is a great asset to the shelter. Not many people can take in the infant kittens and raise them until they are old enough to be adopted, since many people are not home full-time as is needed to care for infant kittens.
