I had a wonderful experience with the New Fairfield Sherman Animal Welfare Society. I live in the Mystic area (2 plus hours away), I saw a picture of Joey on petfinders.com, called the shelter right away. I knew immediately that Joey was my dog and I had to go get him. The staff was very helpful over the phone and promised to hold him for pick up in 2 days, I would have camped out in the parking lot if I had to in order to get Joey, but I was assured that he would be waiting for me. When we arrived at the shelter I couldn't wait to meet my boy, a few minutes later there he was! Love at first sight. Joey and I got aquainted, with help from the staff (Joey was quite timid). I asked lots of questions about Joey and the staff was very helpful in sharing all they knew of his origin, health, and temperment. I must have sat on the floor in the shelter for over an hour. I cannot express the appreciation, respect, and love I feel for the staff at the New Fairfield Sherman Animal Welfare Society. Without people like them I would not have found "My Boy", my best friend, my constant companion, my joy, my pick me up, my fetch partner, my hicking companion, my new smiles and laughter, my own personal comedian, and the love of my life.
