We got our puppy CAPPY (formerly skittles) from DAWS in Janurary. He is a special needs puppy in that he is missing his front right foot. My husband and i went there just to 'look at" him and see if we wanted him. well, ofcoarse we did. He was very well taken care of, super happy and sweet, and just the best dog ever. The daws staff brought him out and let us spend as much time as possible with him. They talked about his disability to us and explained all the things we should look out for long term. The place was nice and clean inside, but you can tell they need more space for people to meet the animals. The animals, though had the most space. The people there cramped themselves into a small office so the animals could have as much room as possible,
Also, while we were there, there were volutneers walking other dogs and making sure everyone got some love and affection.
The people at DAWS definitely care about their animals AND the people who are giving them forever homes. I suggest DAWS to ANYONE who is looking for a pet, and when its time for us to get another cat, we will be there meeting them.

You sound like wonderful people who were able to see the beauty and love that a special needs dog has to offer. Cappy was doubly lucky: first, to be sheltered by DAWS, which does an amazing job of caring for their animals and matching them to their prospective forever homes, and second, that Cappy had the great fortune to be found and matched with you.
