The Danbury Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (DAWS) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond. Founded in 1974, DAWS provides shelter and care to animals in need, offers adoption counseling to place our animals in loving, forever homes, promotes responsible pet guardianshp and the humane treatment of animals, and works toward ending animal overpopulation through education, spay/neuter, and trap, neuter and return programs.
We currently have over 160 active volunteers, ~50 in the Cat Program, ~70 in the Dog Program and the remainder focusing on Marketing, Fundraising and Special Events.
