Cocheco Valley Humane Society first opened its doors in 1984 to serve the animal welfare needs of Strafford County, New Hampshire. Today, our tiny shelter serves more than 180,000 residents throughout Strafford County and the surrounding communities and cares for roughly 2,500 animals each year. The Society’s mission is to make possible a better world for all animals by providing shelter, educating the community about humane care and treatment, advocating animal welfare, and promoting the human-animal bond.
