We went to the animal Shelter at Sterling because it was recommended to us by a nurse at the hospital where I delivered my baby. The puppy was a gift to my older son, and we kept looking at the website to see the pups they had to offer - the website was updated multiple times during the day, so we had a wide choice - only problem was that we wanted all of them.:-)
When we went to the shelter after finally zeroing in on a litter, we were met by the Shelter staff - who took the trouble of pointing out to me how difficult it was going to be to look after a month-old baby and a puppy, both of whom were going to need the same amount of attention. Needless to say, they were very happy when we insisted on taking the puppy home with us. You could see that the animals were well looked after and happy - the shelter staff spent what little free time they had playing with the animals - but it was nice to go home with a warm bundle with the wettest tongue and the waggiest tail!
The animals are neutered or spayed; they give you a free adoption checkup at the nearest VCA, and all the important shots have already been given. We have taken our puppy back for obedience training classes and the staff at the shelter have been amazed at how big the 'puppy' has grown.
