Review Details

Second Chance is a wonderful shelter, which my Mother started in 1999 when she was working as an animal control officer. My mom realized that there was a great need in our area for an animal shelter. May animals where picked up as strays and unethanized simply because there was no one there to help them. So she began her work, she organized a group of loving people who had the same goal: to save the lives of dogs and cats. It took alot of work but in 2002 the shelter finally opened the doors of its building. The small building had 14 runs and a few cat cages. It orginally plan was to house all the animals the shelter was helping, which were until that point in foster homes. My mom soon realized that the area need alot of help with Spay/Neuter and she began working with Vets. The Shelter today now runs 2-3 Spay Neuter clinics on site in a very small Medical room, which was orignally a storage room. The shelter has really come a far way but it has really outgrown its building. It needs help. The shelter has another reason that it is so special to me. It is where I met my fencee who was doing an internship at the shelter in 2005 and who now works at the shelter with my Mom. I see how hard the two of them work to try to achieve the Shelter's Mission. They work very hard and they deserve this makeover.
