I have never encountered such a rude person! I found an ad for an adoption event at Petco in Shoreline on 11/3/12 so I called inquiring about adopting a kitty. I had to leave a message. I called later and spoke with a female who was very rude and abrupt stating she would call me the next day. When she called the next morning she left a message for me even though I asked her to speak with my husband. When I called her that afternoon I shared that we wanted a kitty as we had lost ours to old age 6 weeks previously. She asked if we had choldren (no) or other pets (yes, a 10 yr old cat). She immediately told me that I could not adopt ONE kitty as they had to be adopted in pairs. When I questioned why, she said studies show kitties don't do well without a "friend to play with". There is NOTHING on the web site stating you MUST adopt 2 kitties only a disclaimer about small children. I then asked the cost for 2 kitties and she said "I didn't qualify because of the adult cat in our home"!
Not to worry though-I found a vet office who adopts out kitties and they stated they have never heard such bunk!!
It seems to me that this rude, belligerent woman really does not want to adopt out kitties to qualified homes she just wants to make money for Petco because when families buy all the other necessary supplies when they adopt.
Pros: cute kitties
Cons: nothing else

So here’s my story.
I emailed Forgotten Felines on October the 24th to ask about a kitten I had seen on petfinder. They never returned my email so I decided to call the next day. (I had given them my number so they could call me) When I called they immediately hung up without answering. After trying a few times that day they finally picked up. I told them that I was interested in the kitten and was wondering how the adoption process worked. The lady on the phone told me "This kitten is not spayed yet and isn't big enough to go home, I really don’t have time to talk about this because I need to go to my appointment" (Quite rudely) and hung up. I waited until the next Monday the 29th to call back. When I called the same lady picked up and told me that she would call me back because she had to go to an appointment. So I left my number and waited for a call. When we finally talked on the phone she started asking me questions about where I lived and some random questions which would indicate to her if I was qualified to adopt a kitten. She said during the call that she would call me back because someone had just arrived at her house. When I got a call back she said she was getting some paper work ready and asked if I rented or owned my home. I told her that I currently rent. And she said this back "I don’t feel comfortable with this adoption, I am really looking for someone who owns a home and a more stable environment for this kitten, you should try local shelters like the Humane Society" And when I tried to reply she hung up. I felt very embarrassed that someone would think that just because someone rents a home they don’t deserve a kitten. And she degraded the Humane Society by implying that her shelter had a higher standard. I visit and donate to the Humane Society every week and felt very offended about this. I hope whoever I had talked to on the phone reads this and changes the way she handles business with customers.
Pros: Cute kittens
Cons: Everything else
