San Luis Obispo County Animal Control

I love the heart and effort this shelter puts in to try and overcome their limited budget. While this place does not screen potential owners, a practice I support. It does try and place as many animals in homes as possible. They strive to keep the animals in the shelter happy and healthy. If it is lacking, blame the budget crisis.

Pros: very friendly staff

Cons: often full and not receiving enough funding, no adoption screening process

This shelter makes me sad because they are only able to keep the animals for a short time if not claimed due to limited funding. This is a government program and you know with all the budget cuts and such our animals suffer. I would bring them all home with me if I could.

Pros: Gives animals a small chance of being identified

Cons: They only keep animals for 48 hours
