STAAR is a special place
posted 5 years ago
I adopted both of my dogs from STAAR. And we (the dogs and myself) couldn't be happier.
At first I thought it was strange that they had such stringent adoption rules, but when I thought about it, I realized that these rules and regulations were good for the dogs and for me. This is the way for good matches between both dogs and their new owners. I had a chance to get to know my dogs before I took them home and as I was a very inexperienced dog owner this was important to me.
Also the Sharon has been so helpful in answering any questions I have had concerning my dogs care.
I don't think you can find a better shelter than STAAR if you are looking to adopt or one to support. And because it is a no-kill shelter I find that there is a special feeling at STAAR. It's a happy place with happy dogs.
If this seems too good to be true - just visit STAAR and you'll see I'm not exagerating.
Pros: A no-kill shelter with a really caring staff - simply the best!
Cons: Truly none

Wonderful Place, Wonderful People, Wonderful Dogs
posted 5 years ago
STAAR is one of those rare places where dogs can live in a happy, healthy, and safe environment until adopted. A no-kill shelter, they have a great ranch for the dogs to run and socialize. They truly love the animals they take care of and know them all very well. We adopted our puppy from them and they really matched us with the right dog. We continue to keep in touch with updates and couldn't have had a better adoption experience. STAAR made a big difference in our lives and in the lives of so many great animals, many of whom would not make it in other shelters. Great people!
Pros: Great people who love animals!
Cons: Not in every state in the US

Looking to adopt? Visit STAAR
posted 5 years ago
When my wife and I first visited STAAR, I was very impressed. Sharon Mosher is a unique person who has devoted her life to this shelter and does an terrific job. We have adopted two dogs from STAAR now and they have really added a special touch to our family.
I was touched by the treatment of old or unadoptable dogs in this no-kill shelter. These animals are given love and the best of care.
The one thing lacking is - money. How Sharon does the first rate job she does on her budget is a puzzle to me. She could certainly use some monetary support.
If you are looking to adopt a dog I hope that you will visit STAAR. Sharon is careful to match dogs to their new owners making for the best situation possible.
Pros: An Exceptional Shelter
Cons: None

Just like home
posted 5 years ago
This is just like a home to all these animals, they have their love, care, friends, playtime. Sharon really takes wonderful care of all the animals, they couldn't ask for a better temporary home. This rescue is doing wonderful work and has a great placement record. They are totally no-kill and one of the bright spots in animal rescue today!
Pros: Loving, caring
Cons: could use a helping hand
