South Texas Animal Adoption Resource (STAAR)

It is hard for me to understand how Ms. Mosher runs a shelter at all. I have been trying for several weeks to get in contact with her about volunteering opportunities and a dog I was interested in. After having no luck with emails since she would reply but not answer any questions I wrote. I tried to contact her via phone calls to no answer or response of my voicemails. I finally get a response saying the dog had many applications and was already adopted out. Would have been nice to know a few weeks ago as we could have been able to look for another deserving animal. I cannot explain in words my frustration with the rudeness I have been dealt through Ms. Mosher via her email correspondance. I do work with another local shelter (CAP) and have never had anything even remotely similar to this ever happen. I feel sorry for these poor animals who can't get help from people willing to do something.

I got both of my dogs from STAAR and they are amazing. This group really cares about looking after animals

Pros: They love what they do and have a real passion for taking care of animals

Cons: Insufficient funding forces them to work with whatever equipment/facilities they have
