City of Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care

I am a volunteer at BARC and the situation there is not good. The staff does what they can do with the amount of people they have but they don't have nearly the staff to take care of so many animals. Animals are not taken out of their cages unless a volunteer comes and does it and that is sometimes only on the weekends when the volunteers can make it. The cages are dirty much of the time. The euthanization rate is very high. More volunteers are definitely needed.

Pros: They do what they can with what they have

Cons: Understaffed, animals rarely taken out, cages not clean, high euthanizing rate

This place has a huge job and they do it well.
