Humane Society of the Ouachitas

HSO serves a widespread rural community. Their main purpose is to reduce the homeless pet population. To accomplish this (being a no-kill shelter), the shelter spays/neuters all residents, as well as hosting frequent spay/neuter clinics. The staff of volunteers provide shelter, nourishment, and love to all of the residents. They say of themselves, "Where you'll find your new best friend". All of the volunteers are dedicated to finding the best new person for their friends. Although HSO struggles financially at times, it always seems to work out, and the animals never lack for anything. They provide exceptional care for the dogs and cats, and each animal has a story to share. I am pleased (delighted) to have this shelter in my community, and I am proud to help in their mission.
