A dream lives on

posted 6 years ago

T.A.R.A. came into existence because of the tragic and untimely (age 25) passing of perhaps the most extraordinary and remarkable person I have ever known - Tara Nagel.

Like all responsible rescue groups, the volunteers of T.A.R.A. put the welfare of the animals first when deciding whether or not to approve an adoption application. A fair percentage are denied. And a few of those result in a very angry response from the denied applicant. But T.A.R.A. steadfastly continues to stand behind their animals and approves only those applications in which the applicant also demonstrates that he/she cares for the welfare of the animal.

The e-mails exchanged between T.A.R.A.'s volunteers shows that there are several who repeatedly go out of their way (they have their "regular" 40 hour/week jobs to do) to help the homeless animals in the Greater Kansas City area. In one case that involved throwing away a plane ticket and renting a car to make a several hundred mile trip back to Kansas City with a couple of abandoned dogs. Imagine what the drop off fee was for that rented car.

At adoption events you will find hard working volunteers
setting up pens, crates, tables, and displays. And also
seeing to the animals' food, water, and comfort. You will
find them friendly and outgoing on the one hand, and very
professional and caring on the other.

I support this organization because they do great things for pit bulls and I would adopt from the any day.
