The Open Door Animal Sanctuary

I would NOT recommend this shelter to anyone. My family & I have tried to adopt from this place many times. Recently, again, we went up there to adopt a dog to add to our family, filled out paperwork, viewed adoptable dogs, interacted with a few, ect. We were told we would recieve a phone call within a week from a staff member to make an appt to come to our home to 'inspect' it. Never got that call. I called many times to see if we could make that appt, and all I got was the run around. They want to get these animals homes, but how can you give an animal a home if you never contact the person interested & willing to give the animal a home? So this place needs to quit complaining about no room for more animals. There are plenty of people who we know that has tried as well to adopt from there, but they get the same treatment as we did. Will not go back up there again. I'd rather go to other shelters to adopt, like the Rainbow Ranch in Morse Mill, where we adopted our dog Jasper.
