I have not been to the shelter personally but they have been will to try to help my small rescue group in the past by trying to take some cats when we have been overloaded. They were nice and helpful to talk to and I like that they test and chip and fix all animals coming in.

Cons: none noted so far.

CatNap volunteer for 10 years!

posted 5 years ago

I've been a CatNap volunteer for 10 years. It is through CatNap and Bobbi (shelter director) that I first learned about our nation's pet overpopulation problem. My three cats and two parakeets were adopted from CatNap and I frequently foster kittens and guinea pigs for the shelter.

I love CatNap because they truelly care about the animals in their care. Each homeless pet receives a name, not just a number, when they first enter the shelter. Every pet is treated as an individual and is given time to adjust to shelter life. The staff's committment to the well-being and health of every shelter pet is noteworthy. CatNap takes care of all healthy and treatable pets until a new home is found - there is no time limit!

I also use CatNap's boarding services when I am away from home. My cats do very well at CatNap and I am free from worrying about their care while I am away. The staff takes my instructions and concerns to heart and treats my pets as though they were their own.

Pros: All pets are treated with respect and kindess. Staff and volunteers take the time to get to know all homeless pets in their care.

Cons: Small shelter - need more room! Sometimes you have to wait a while before a staff member can speak with you.

Truly caring shelter

posted 5 years ago

I adopted both of my cats at this shelter. The reason I chose to go to Catnap was the fact that they are an honest no-kill shelter. The cats don't have a time limit to find a home. Any and all cats are taken in, and they will rescue cats from other kill shelters. Unfortunately this means that the shelter is usually crowded, but no cat is turned away. The only problem at this shelter is that the number of abandoned and surrendered cats increases faster than the number that get adopted. My cats are absolutely wonderful, and I can't thank Catnap enough for rescuing Mags from a kill shelter and taking in Bo's litter despite the fact that his mother was feral. They are the greatest cats and love them more than words can describe

Pros: A true non-kill shelter

Cons: the number of homeless animals continues to grow, which means the number of cats they have grows

Best animal shelter EVER!

posted 5 years ago

I picked up my first two cats form Cat Nap six years ago. They were brother and sister. The sister passed away of a cancerous tumor last Christmas. It was inoperable. Her brother was devastated. We were crushed. We came back to Cat Nap. I told them what happened, and they cried they were so sad. A lady went in the back, then came up front and handed me a cat. "This is the perfect one for you," she said. We took that sweet little girl home. She was about a year old. No one can replace the baby we lost, but Cat Nap helped us through a difficult time. We love our new little girl, Ivy, and so does her brother, Sniffles. Words can't describe what this shelter has meant to us.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Too many wonderful animals to choose from!

Cat Adoption Experience

posted 5 years ago

We're a couple in our early fifties with no kids and previously, no pets. Our God-daughter loves animals but her father is allergic to all animal fur. So, we went to Catnap and fell in love with a 2 1/2 year old cat named Matt. A month later, we adopted Maggie, a 2 year old for a companion. They are truly a wonderful addition to our household.

The Catnap team was tremendously helpful in the whole process. Bobbi Meyer was referred by one of her team as "the best cat matcher in the business" (i.e. cats to people and other cats) He was right on the money.

I am so impressed with the organization that I have volunteered to work there and hope to work with their board to bring an expanded (both size and capability) to fruition.

Pros: Really great team of people working there

Cons: Small and crowded

I'm not sure I would board my cat at a place with strays for adoption. I would worry way too much that my cat could catch an illness from cats that live at this shelter.
