Puppyland Humane Society Inc.

I have been volunteering at Puppyland since February 2012 and have met the most wonderful and caring folks who run this facility. The animals are well taken care of and the buildings are clean thanks to the numerous volunteers I work alongside. Right now there are alot of changes as far as updating the buildings. My husband just placed a ventilation fan in the dog building and what a difference that did make. There is no odor in either building..there was but with some good daily cleaning there is no smell. Just a little attention to this shelter and the amazing things we are capable of. Stop by during the day 8 am until noon or we are there all day Saturday and Sunday. The animals would love to meet you and so would I.

Over the years, I have adopted 2 cats and 1 dog from Puppyland. I also supported them with several forms of donations (ex: aluminum cans, money). I hated going there because of the horrible conditions, the smell, the health of the animals, etc. but I did it for the animals hoping it would make a difference. Memorial Day weekend I noticed a large ad in the Post for Puppyland Humane Society, Inc. requesting donations to help stock the humane society. Something was different ... I had never before seen an ad that nice or that big for Puppyland and the name was now "Puppyland Humane Society, Inc". So, my Mother & I decided to take their request list to the store and buy some of the needed items listed ... we ended up buying almost everything on the list! When we got to Puppyland, we took a deep breath before unloading the car- expecting the same deplorable conditions as were over the past several years. As we got out of the care, we were greated by several exceptional and amazing animal caretakers ... Marilyn & Dick (the previous owners) are no longer there or involved with Puppyland in any way!! To our surprise and awe, the place was clean and bright with no "cat/dog" smell ... buildings have been restored and repainted, the cat house is bright with big cages, lots of room to roam and plenty of comfy places to relax. The same with the house for the dogs ... Puppyland is unbelievably fresh, sanitary and renewed!!! While we were there, volunteers were playing with severl dogs in a kiddie pool! We were told that the change of ownership took place late last Fall and these remarkable, anima-loving caretakers have been working unceasingly to clean and restore Puppland since then ... and THEY HAVE DONE A REMARKABLE AND OUTSTANDING JOB!! And, they're not finished yet ... they have many plans& ideas on how to continue making Puppyland well again. Unfortunately, they have a very large hurdle to overcome ... the bad reputation the previous caretakers made for Puppyland (as you can see by some of the previous comments). Please take the time to visit Puppyland to see what a difference these "angels" have made and their true passion and commitment to animals ... We felt so good after dropping off our donations and seeing the night/day change, we'll be doing this quite frequently. I truely believe that after visiting the "new & improved" Puppyland, you'll feel the same way!! THANK YOU to the new caretakers ... you have done an absolutely amazing job on transforming Puppyland!!
