Should be investigated...

posted 5 years ago

According to the papers the HSARofMC is required to file with the state of Michigan they have "KILLED" over 5700 dogs & cats from 2007-2009...doesn't sound like a "NO KILL" shelter to me. They found homes for 1308 dogs & cats during this same period.

There is something going on when 1350 cats are unaccounted for in one year, that year being 2009.

Please find somewhere else to take your unwanted animals & strays. This agency IS NOT HUMANE and they should be investigated for the abuse of animals and for not following their own policies.

Pros: there aren't any

Cons: is a "KILL" shelter

Not a nice place

posted 8 years ago

Our animal control office is not a very nice place. Because of a local rescue group, the dogs are now cared for and less are being euthanized. Until this rescue group took over, Muskegon Animal Control was still using gas to euthanize the poor dogs. And, it does not accept cats.

Pros: none

Cons: like a jail

I think its cool that these dogs can be such a valuable resource to the local community. I know the officers love them and treat them well so i think its a great idea and service.
