The world needs more people like the folks at Rabbit R&R!

posted 5 years ago

I was looking for a companion for my bunny Pirate, and the staff here could not have been more helpful! Pirate is not always the friendliest of bunnies, so I wasn't sure what gender/breed/temperament would be best for him.
Well, I brought him to the shelter so he could go "speed-dating," and we went home with a sweet little girl named Annie. The two are now as close as can be.
Rabbit R & R have rescued an incredible amount of rabbits, and really seem to know each one personally. I don't know how they do it; having only my two rabbits takes up so much time and money! They make what few resources they have go so far!
Rabbit lovers are such a small community, and we are incredibly lucky that such a great shelter exists!

Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable, caring staff

Cons: Could use more staff, but they are volunteer-only I think

My Experience of Midwest Rabbit Rescue

posted 5 years ago

ATTEMPT #3 OF REVIEW -- I am the husband of startigress and NOT the same person, this is a LEGIT review of this establishment. To learn more about us, check out polar-engage.livejournal.com/profile/ -- Please do not delete this review.

First and foremost that rabbits are real pets and this place is a real blessing to people who wants rabbits. I have had cats and dogs and I didn't want to replace my past pets but have some new family, so my wife and I wanted to adopt rabbits, a mated pair.

For at least 6 months we researched rabbits on www.rabbitrr.org/ for the perfect pet for us. However going there and holding the rabbits versus looking at pictures is a huge difference. Each rabbit has its own history and is unique and the staff will spend time with you and let you find the perfect buns for you.

When we left with Rocket and Emily I was convinced we had picked the rabbits for us.

The one thing I noticed though is that they were lacking in space and $5,000 would help them tremendously. Please do not deny Midwest Rabbit this great chance to improve their conditions.

Thanks!

Pros: Dominique/Rochelle (and Crew), Flexible Hours

Cons: Limited Space

Bunny Love

posted 5 years ago

Midwest has a bunch of Caring and devoted volunteers. I have been with them now for about 11/2 years. I have never seen so many people care for animals the way we do. We do everything within our means to help our little bunns.
Many of the volunteers have devoted their time, and their home, to caring for any sick bunnies that are surrended, found and cruelty cases. It's unbelievable why people would treat a bunny, or any animal in an unhuman way. The fact that it does, makes this shelter all the more special. It is a no kill shelter and the bunns get lots of love by the volunteers, and hope for being adopted to a loving family.
Our shelter is small and we do our best. But this make over would help us acquire the things we need for making our shelter even more operational for the bunns.
These little guys are fun to watch, cuddle and pet. Over the time I have been there, so much has been done by the community coming together and pitching in to make the shelter even better. To win this contest would so exciting. Always being able to Improve the living conditions for the bunnies is one of the many things we strive for.
Good Luck to us MIDWEST RABBIT RESCUE AND REHOME.!!!!!!!!

Pros: Companionship; Fun

Cons: A bit messy

What can I say?!?!

posted 5 years ago

I am so blessed to have Midwest in my area. Circumstances for me changed drastically and I had to rehome a bonded pair of lops that I found tossed out for garbage in the middle of the summer. I planned to keep them, but when my job relocated me to Orlando, it was impossible for me to keep the girls. I already have 1 rabbit, and taking 3 would just be too much to handle. I didn't want to do it, but I had no choice. I tried every rabbit shelter in the area, and even in Ohio. Midwest was the only shelter that was able to help me. They agreed to take them the same day! What a weight off my shoulders. I am relieved to know that they are now in excellent care and are on the right track to finding a new forever home. The fact that Midwest is a no-kill shelter is reassuring to anyone who has to rehome a bun. I know they will not be put to death because of the misfortunes of others.

Debbie was so comforting to me and ensured me everything would be OK. Thank you so much Midwest for everything to do for everybunny!

Pros: Great Place

Cons: Wish they didn't have to exist in the first place!

Great place!

posted 5 years ago

I found this shelter off of petfinder.com and found Benny, the perfect companion for our Sunnie at this shelter! The people at this shelter did a great job starting off the bonding process and now the two bunnies are together ALL the time and love each other to pieces. The staff also does a great job educating owners about the rabbits. We got Sunnie spayed after we learned about the high risks of developing cancer if left unspayed. Thankfully, Sunnie was still cancer free and got spayed last year. Benny was such a comfort to her after her recovery. Thanks for taking such good care of Benny until we found him!

Pros: Rabbits are well cared for

Cons: Place needs a makeover!
