Friendship APL

posted 5 years ago

My name is Ron and my wife and I have (2) cats and (2) dogs. The company I work for recently had a silent auction with all the proceeds going to the APL. The APL had someone come in and give a brief talk about what they do on a daily basis, the costs involved and how they go about raising money. I think they do a great job and I hope we can help them by winning this contest.

Pros: Great to work with

Cons: None

This is a place of love.

posted 5 years ago

This animal shelter is a place that relies on people making donations and buying animals. They deserve the million dollar makeover because they can barely get by on keeping clean towels, blankets, beds, etc clean, but they get it all done. My mother works there and sometimes she doesn't come home until 7 o'clock because she was making sure that EVERY animla had everything done perfect and that they even had a treat. My mother loves her job there, not only is it a clean and friendly environment but they take dogs out one at a time to a pen to play and have fun and do what dogs do! Each chain outside has a dog house with it. I really do say that this is one of the finest animal shelters that I have ever been to. As I had stated earlier the people are friendly and they all do their best to make sure that the animals in this shelter have all that they need. They work their hardest for the animals in that shelter and you can go into that shelter and you will instantly feel love and hope for animals in there. I hope that they get the million dollar makeover, they deserve it so much, ESPEVIALLY the animals.

Pros: Clean, SAFE, friendly people

Cons: Somewhat running out of money for cosmetic needs

A Wonderful Place of Love

posted 5 years ago

I volunteer at the Friendship APL with my 7 year old son. A couple times a week, we go there to walk dogs and clean litter boxes. He loves going there and I explain to him how these are doggies that were treated bad by their owners or just abandoned and they have no one to love them. It makes him feel good to know that he can help these animals with no families to love them. The Friendship APL provides a great opportunity for children with an interest in working with animals to explore those interests. It teaches them about charity and helping others. They leave with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

While volunteering at APL, we met our ferret, Jack, who was abandoned in a bird cage on the doorsteps of the APL. We adopted him and brought him home and he has turned to be a wonderful addition to our family.

Pros: Great Staff, Clean,

Cons: None

Thanks to the Friendship APL

posted 5 years ago

Just wanted to say thank you to the Friendship APL for doing such a great job of taking care of all the animals! The staff is very friendly and the pets are very loving there.

About 8 yrs ago, my girlfriend told me they got Zowie from there. She said Zowie used to be afraid to be around other people because she was abused before the Friendship APL saved her. It had taken Zowie awhile to become comfortable around children and women but she was still timid to be around males. She said with the love and support from the Friendship APL, Zowie was able to gain her confidence. Now, Zowie greets me at the door when ever I come over, cuddles with me on the floor and loves all of the attention I could possibly give her!

Keep up the good work Friendship APL!!

Great people

posted 5 years ago

My hysband and I adopted our two dogs at the Friendship APL. It was the best thing we could have done. Snoopy a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix was our first. she was obedience trained and is a truly wonderful dog. Chanci was our second one. She is a yellow lab and was abused as a puppy. I could"nt stand to see her so nervous. I told Bob we have to have her. And we did. She is doing great. Our friends at the shelter are so happy to see Snoopy and Chanci from time to time. They are wonderful people there. And they are so good to the animals. I wish everyone would adopt a pet instead of buying pure breds. Mutts are so much more loveable. Think adoption.....

I just read a review and I agree 100%. When my husband and I take our newspapers over we always go in and I give treats out to the animals. If I were to ever hit the lottery I'd adopt them all. The staff and volunteers at fapl give the animals food, shelter, and love but you know they want a permanent home for the animals so bad. They look at you through the cages and say"all i need is a family". My heart breaks every time I look at them. But for now they're all safe and well taken care of. Keep up the good work!

Pros: alot of their dogs are obedience trained before adoption

Cons: none
