UPDATE: THE GOOGLE MAP LISTED IS NOT CORRECT. We are located at 1357 State Route 38 South East in Madison County. We are approximately 2 miles southeast of Rt 40 (National Road) on Rt 38 on the left hand side behind the administrative offices of the Madison County Board of MR/DD and before the MR/DD school and sheltered workshop. If you get to London High School you've missed us.
The Humane Society runs the county dog pound. It consists of an older cinderblock dog area and 2 trailers. Despite the physical limitations, we have placed about 4,000 animals in the past 4 years. We also run a Fresh Start Canine program with a nearby prison. Inmates foster dogs for 30-90 days and work on housebreaking, socialization and basic commands. They also bottle feed kittens and work with puppies.
Dog Adoption fee is $105.00 which includes a Home Again Microchip, vaccines, 1 year rabies, deworming, Heartworm testing if old enough, and spay/neuter.
Cat Adoption fee is $60.00 which includes feline LeuK/FIV testing, vaccines, deworming, and spay/neuter.
Adoption forms are located on our website of www.hsmochio.com and click on adopt a pet. You can also view all the animals on our website.

We adopted our dog from the shelter. We enjoyed every minute of the process. Our dog was in the prison program and had a fantastic trainer. She is a great dog. We were also impressed with the fact that we got so much information on our adopted pet and about her training plus a Home Again Microchip.
Pros: Value for the money
Cons: Shelter needs a makeover
