East Ridge Animal Services was created to provide the citizens of East Ridge with fast and courteous animal control services.

East Ridge Animal shelter is certified by the State of Tennessee

East Ridge Officers are both NACA certified (National Animal Control Association); both Officers hold a State of Tennessee CAET certification (Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician) and both are members of the Hamilton County DART Team (Disaster Animal Response Team).

Officer Zagona is on the Board of Directors of ACAT (Tennessee Animal Control Association).

East Ridge Animal Services will work with the new McKamey Animal Care & Adoption Center & Catoosa County Rabies Control if asked since our areas border each other’s jurisdictions. We cannot provide services to these areas; we do help in situations when needed.

Animal Control services are provided 24/7/365 days a year, all calls are ran during regular business hours, on weekends & holidays only emergency calls are ran.
PLEASE ONLY SICK OR INJURED ANIMAL CALLS, ANIMAL BITES, AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS or ANIMALS at a BUSINESS ARE CONSIDERED AN AFTERHOUR EMERGENCY CALL, If you believe your complaint is one of the above please call the East Ridge Police @ 423-622-1725.

Please remember DO NOT CALL 911 for animal emergencies DO NOT call the East Ridge Police for a stray or a dog running at large.
If you have a stray animal please call the shelter and leave a message and we will run the complaint the next business day.

When making a complaint please provide the owners address if known & animal description.

East Ridge Animal Services shelter is a rescue friendly shelter, we gladly welcome all rescue groups to come by and visit with us at anytime. We have had several rescue groups visit. They thanked us for being so friendly and helpful. We could not help these animals without the help from these rescue groups.

Please donate to your local rescues!

2008 News

Our goal is to keep our shelters euthanasia rate extremely low. "NO" adoptable animals have been euthanized for space! And our year to date percentage for adoptable animals in 2008 is 0%.

This is because of our high adoption rate, owner reclaimed animals and rescues. We have an extensive rescue network that has helped us in saving countless animals lives.

We are having a high rate of owner surrenders at the shelter. Many are from the City limits of Chattanooga and NW Georgia.

We are a very small shelter with extremely limited space. We are unable to accept animals from other areas; proof of residence will have to be given when surrendering any animal.

Please do not have a friend from East Ridge surrender your animal as theirs. We do check up on all suspicious surrenders. And do not surrender your animal to us as a stray, that is just wrong and we can tell if you are the owner.

We have the reputation of finding our animals new homes or getting them into rescue, but it's not our responsibilty to find "YOUR" animal a new home, we are the last RESORT.

We have only ONE main cat rescuer and only ONE dog volunteer that brings the dogs to Petsmart to increase their chances fo finding new homes. We would like to thank our other couple that helps with the dogs every other week with getting the dogs to Petsmart.

So, you can do the math on your own, our resources are extremely limited and so is our kennel and cat cage space.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO FIND YOUR ANIMAL A NEW HOME, REMEMBER YOUR PET IS A FAMILY MEMBER, NOT A THROW A-WAY OR RECYCLABLE ITEM THAT CAN JUST BE THROWN AWAY WHEN YOU ARE TIRED OF IT. YOUR ANIMAL IS A LIVING BREATHING, CARING CREATURE THAT DESERVES BETTER! THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU SURRENDER YOUR FAMILY MEMBER, THE CHOICE YOU MAKE WILL ALWAYS STAY WITH YOU!

Please do not have a friend that lives in East Ridge surrender your animal, this is not fair to the animals from East Ridge.

If you live outside of East Ridge and need to surrender an animal we can provide rescue contacts but we cannot take your animal.

Please remember WE are NOT a RESCUE group but an ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITY. We cannot guarantee that your surrendered animal will find a new loving home.

Adoption prices are
*** Unaltered (not spayed/neutered) $85.00, which includes a vet check,a rabies voucher and a spay/neuter. The pets are wormed when they arrive at the shelter. All other services, shots & tests are not included and will not be covered under the adoption contract.***
***Altered (already spayed/neutered) $40.00, which includes a vet check & a rabies voucher. All other services, shots, tests are not included and will not be covered under the adoption contract.***

When dogs and puppies arrive at the shelter, they are given a DA2PP & Bordetella vaccine.

When cats and kittens arrive at the shelter they are given a FRcP.
