What lucky cats! Not so lucky dog.

The shelter is highly visible and always in the public eye. The community thinks highly of rescue. I think it exceeds standards with it's staff, location, care of animals on permises. I live in an area with unusal amount of pet dumping (last house end of dirt road kind of in the country) and was never able to get help in fostering or placing stray dogs. These were dogs I had held while running lost ads, had vet check, and start basic obedience. Was never offered a chance to get on a wait list, never offered to list the dogs as potential adoptee. I as a long time recuser understand how hard it is have enough volunteers, space, and time, yet I feel I have to be honest that I was never able to recieve help with the dogs. I was new to the state and had not had time to develope any networking to help myself. But there was a happy ending for all the drop off dogs. All the drop off dogs were sucessfully placed by Williamson County Animal Shelter. Animal Shelter and I was even able to speak with the new owners. I hope Happy Tales can continue to cultivate and expand new dog fosters. This is a great little shelter working hard in an area of the country that is still behind in its attitude towards dogs and cats and what those responsiblities as a community should be.
Pros: The Cats live like kings, highly visible location
Cons: Not enough fosters for dogs/space
