Clean and busy facility

posted 5 years ago

This center takes care of cats, dogs and other pets in the western part of Pasco County, Florida. The site is open five days a week. They have separate areas for dogs and cats. They also have some birds and other types of pets.

The dog cages are big and the animals have plenty of room to turn, walk around or sleep. They are taken out for walks on the grounds. There are pleasant trees and small lawns outside. It's a good place for prospective pet owners to get to know the animals.

The dog home is in a large section near to the front hall. The cat home is in a separate small building across the way. It is cheerfully painted with cat logos, and the inside is nice and roomy as well. There are several rows of cages where the cats sit and relax; up front by the windows, there is a large play area, where cats can use scratching posts and toy houses to their heart's content.

I frequently donate supplies to this facility. The staff members love to talk to people and help them with their questions. The reception area is bustling on most days, so you won't have to wait long for a response.

Visitors are welcome to get up close to the pets in order to see if they have the right match. You can sit with the cats or dogs, take a dog for a stroll or let a cat settle on your lap.

The animals are well-fed and healthy. Pets come in a variety of sizes and shapes, so anyone looking to adopt will have a generous selection as far as pet characteristics. If you live in the west Pasco area and have the time to devote to a pet in your life, this is an excellent place to look.

Pros: Staff is very responsive to public

Cons: Could use a little more room in the front hall

Shelter is going downhill FAST!!!

posted 5 years ago

I volunteer there from time to time...
That being said I will tell you there are some VERY nice people that work there... like the 2 guys in the Kennel (Eric and Terry) and the lady in cat house (Linda) the rest of the staff is rather rude!! Even those that are there out of the kindness of their hearts!!
I have witnessed and been subject to the girl at the front desk (Devolyn don't know how to spell it) being just down right mean, nasty, and judgemental.
I have also been subject to another girl Cassy that works there who is just down right NASTY and rude to EVERYONE!!
If it weren't for Eric, Terry, and Linda I would not go there anymore to VOLUNTEER my time as I think I am there out of the goodness of my heart and should not have to be treated as though I am trash!!
I thank them for making that shelter what it is not anyone else!!!
The 3 that I mentioned being nice are really in it for the animals and their well being. They appreciate EVERY bit of help you give them and thank you on a regular basis.

Pros: They have a wonderful Kennel staff

Cons: There are 2 girls that work there that are VERY rude!!

Saving one animal at a time!

posted 6 years ago

I have been a volunteer at the shelter since March of this year. I love going and spending time with all these great dogs that have so much love to give. The staff are great and always doing their best to find homes and to provide love and care while the animals are there. I will continue to share my time with these loving dogs until I am physically unable!!

Pros: Finding homes for great dogs and cats.

Cons: We need more space to ensure that no dog or cat is left on the streets!!
