The Macon County Humane Society is a non-profit shelter for stray and abandoned dogs and cats. We are a no kill shelter that runs off of donations as well as our Thrift Store. We do not practice euthanasia on animals unless we have to but that means we can't take in a lot of animals unless they are adopted out. We are trying very hard to place them so we can take more animals off the street and find them good loving forever homes. We have 7 employees and only 2 volunteers to take care of 130 dogs and cats so if you live in the area and would like to volunteer please come by and spend an hour or the whole day with our animals they would love the attention.

i have been volunteering there and i love it. i don't get paid and i don't get special treatment. i only get the satifaction of working with the animals and that is more than enough for me. i wish we had more space. i love these people to death, they care about the animals so much it is unbelievable!! they treat the animals as if they were their own and i truly respect that :)
Pros: everyone is nice and loves animals :)
Cons: we don't have enough space :*(
