Not very good

posted 5 years ago

It seems like most of the reviews are from people who either volunteer here or have adopted pets from them at the PetSmart location.
I believe most people have good intentions behind them, but this shelter is very horrible compared to what they can be like.
I think they take on more than can be handled and so more animals suffer than need be. They have way too many animals than the facility can handle and instead of building up first to be able to handle more animals, they take in the animals first and then try to find the space for them. I have heard from numerous people who have been to the facility that there are cats housed in carriers/crates stacked on top of each other. I have heard from a lot of people who say they just couldn't leave the animals in that condition - they "rescue" them from the rescue facility. How sad is that? Especially when some of these people are the ones who volunteer out there!
We see a lot of animals come out of there with diseases such as parvo, distemper, panleukopenia, severe intestinal parasites, etc. These are disesases that can be controlled with good management and veterinary care. Linden seems to care more about quantity than quality.
The state is NOT trying to close down these shelters, rather they are trying to increase the quality of the shelters and make sure animals are housed in quality conditions. There are other shelters in the same area that are not having the problems that this place is with the state because they have made sure the housing is quality. Linden is real good at being the "victim" when in reality the animals being kept there are the true victims.

Pros: No kill

Cons: No kill, lots of diseases

Proud Mom

posted 5 years ago

My daughters and I fostered an adorable yellow lab a couple of months ago. When it was time for him to go to Petsmart my ten-year old daughter and I decided to volunteer for the day and do our best to get him adopted. We were so excited when he was one of the first dogs to find a good home. Since then my daughter and I have been volunteering as many Saturdays as we can. She has even volunteered by herself. I cannot express with words how proud I am of her and her commitment to saving animals.

Pros: Great group of caring volunteers

Cons: So many pets, so few families
