We're a 501c3 non-profit and operate with the help of volunteers.
The Humane Society of Concord & Greater Cabarrus County has had many great milestones. Accomplishments include the establishment of a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, a New Leash on Life program (dogs trained by inmates prior to adoption in partnership with a local minimum security prison and our own Animal Control) and a cage-free cat adoption site, Princeton's Meow, that allows you to sit and play or cuddle with a potential new feline friend (and even a bunny or two!) However, it never is enough. Not when even one healthy adoptable animal may face euthanization due to lack of room until their forever family can be found.
We have a couple of dog runs in the Cabarrus Animal Control facility where we hold and show dogs and pups for adoption. Our volunteers have big hearts and willing hands and bodies that pitch in to keep the animals clean, socialized and ready for adoption.

This shelter is fabulous! They know the animals and truly care about their well being. I cannot say enough about how caring, considerate and communicative the volunteers are. Their passion to find good homes for these animals is second to none. When one our dogs passed away I received so many kind emails from the volunteers. Their support was astounding and will never be forgotten.
Pros: Great staff who really care about the dogs

This is a wonderful shelter. The woman were very patient and helpful. They showed me multiple dogs and gave me plenty of time to play and bond with the dogs. I was not pressured into adopting a dog that would not suit me. The were the sweetest people and really care about the animals at the shelter. The shelter was hard to find at first but once I got there I had a wonderful experience. I ended up getting a puppy who needed another round of shots in 3 days...instead of sending me somewhere else where I would have to pay for them or making me wait to take her home, the allowed me to bring her back for her shots. I am a very happy customer. A year later, I am estatic with my dog and if I ever get another dog again I will return.
Pros: wonderful staff, stayed open so I could go to an atm and get money for my adoption, clean, let me bring back my baby to get her second round of shots for free
Cons: credit card machine was out of order, hard to find
